The Most Haunted Live team visited historic Manchester in this three night investigation. Staircase House is a grade II listed medieval townhouse dating back to around 1460. Very little is known of the house's early history, though it is thought that it was originally the home of the Mayor of Stockport, William Dodge, in 1483. The first definite residents were the Shallcross family who owned the house from 1605 until the mid 1700s, who installed the cage newel staircase in 1618, which gives the house its name.

This Jacobean staircase is one of only three surviving examples in Britain and has been carefully restored following a fire in 1995

The three night event began at Staircase House, where Derek initially connected with a number of names associated with the house including Robert Wild, a member of the Wild family who ran a Cobblers Shop at Staircase House in the late 1800s, Thomas Shallcross, another of the house's owners, and Robert Owten, former butler to the Shallcross family. During the night vigils the team called out for spirits to contact them, at which point knocks are heard from the floor. Karl claimed to see a part of a face, as did other members of the team. The name Legh was also picked up by Derek during a ouija board experiment as the glass then spelt out the word 'DIE'.

Later, Derek was possessed by the ghost of Thomas Shallcross, who revealed many spirits were disturbed by a fire which engulfed the house in 1995.
