Torrent description

This torrent was uploaded from www.TheBox.bz (signup is open and free) - the home of all British TV

Synopsis : "When I was a copper," says undercover agent Mick Raynor, "it was ninety-nine per cent boredom to one per cent terror. I always preferred the one per cent". In fact he's still in the force, posing as a bent ex-policeman in order to gain information on the complex web of organised crime and high-level corruption in Britain. Raynor is played by Leslie Grantham, and his controller Commander Oakwood by Robert Stephens, in a six-part thriller.

It was written by Terry Johnson , and producer Steve Clark-Hall says of 99-1 that it is "a laconic thriller set in the no-man's land where the underworld meets the establishment".

99-1 was a Zenith Productions production for Carlton Television and the ITV network.

SERIES ONE

1.Doing The Business
5th January 1994

Director : Charles McDougall
Script : Terry Johnson

Cast : Leslie Grantham (Mick Raynor), Robert Carlyle (Detective Constable Trevor Preston), Malcolm Storry (Detective Superintendent Travis), Andrew Tiernan (Billy Pink), Oliver Parker (Peter Smithers) and John Vine (Andrew Deniston).

Publicity : Leslie Grantham is used to playing non-conformists. So his new role, as maverick cop Mick Raynor in the six-part drama 99-1 (Wednesday ITV), should cover familiar territory. "Raynor makes the rules up as he goes along," says Grantham. "But when he's told to stop bending the rules or take the flak, he can't believe it - he's putting the bad guys away. Then he's approached by a high-ranking cop (Commander Oakwood, played by Robert Stephens) and blackmailed into going undercover". Grantham describes the laconic thriller as a cross between Man In A Suitcase (starring a bounty hunter) and The Fugitive. "Raynor doesn't make arrests every week. He wants the gangsters with knighthoods - the politicians who are laundering the money. He's after the big fish". (Radio Times, January 1, 1994).
