Team LastOS proudly presents LastLinux, the next generation of Linux installation has arrived! This Linux has everything needed by default - nothing needs to be done afterwards. It includes all popular linux programs as well as all Codec's needed. Even Windows programs can run on it.
File(s): 17 RAR files
ISO Size: 1.6 GB
The system uses 8.2 GB, swapspace needs some extra space.
Memory required: atleast 64 - 384 to run it smooth
CPU: atleast 300 MHz - 700 mhz to run it smooth
VGA requirements: capable of 640x480 resolution
--Note: Not all WLAN drivers get installed out-of-the-box, so its best to have a ethernet cable ready to install that wireless driver after installation.
If you want desktop effects it’s recommended to have:
1.2 GHz processor
384 MB of system memory (RAM)
And a reasonable VGA-card, no high-end is needed, a VGA card that can play a dvd can also do those desktop effects.
LastLinux basic info
Based on Ubuntu 8.10 LastLinux was build from a barebone Ubuntu, first thing added was GNOME, the most Stable GUI available on Linux. GNOME was themed to look like a modern OS should look like, nothing stops you from playing your favorite wmv files, from opening those .doc files you have and best thing is you only need to install the OS and everything is done! No more installing programs and codecs after installation - 1 Install that’s all that is needed. Dont search ages for those Printer drivers - Linux does it for you, it will install all drivers available to you automatically (network required). Everything is up-to-date upto the day of release and with a build in update-manager that will update all system components unattended your system will never be out of date again.
LastLinux offers Photo managers like F-spot and Picasa as well as photo-editing with GIMP. It will scan and print all your photos, along with Scribus and Open Office Draw you have a complete Graphics suite at your disposal on LiveCD or on your HDD afer installation. Plugin your Camera and let F-spot or Picasa get all the pictures form it amd let them organize everything, if you are not satisfied with one of them start GIMP and add nice effects, GIMP offers all the tools and effects that are needed. Making albums becomes easy with Scribus, the open-source award winning page-layout program.
Download from p2p networks with Vuza (azureus) and aMule, browse the internet with Firefox - check you email with Thunderbird and Evolution. Chat with your friends with Pidgin and give them a call with Skype. Filezilla will upload your files via FTP, dont bother installing plugins they are allready there! You can watch youtube as much as you want and play your favorite online flash games, dont be afraid of a virus attack, your linux System is locked a Virus can’t infect your locked system files. Even better a Windows virus doesnt even know what to do with your linux system - it might infect wine, but your system will remain safe.
With the entire OpenOffice.org suite and Abiword all basic office software is there, along with HomeBank and GNUCash you can manage your financial accounts. Dont forget to keep an eye on your projects with the project planner. Best to fill in important dates on your Sunbird calender while you are add it. Never forget what you need to do, make a to-do list with ease. All these programs make LastLinux an OS with a worthy Office suite, able to open all formats you are used to (including MS office 2007 extensions).
Play your favorite music with Amarok, audacious & Rhythmbox, dont worry about file extensions anymore all codecs are allready installed. Never organize your favorite music anymore, these programs will do it for you, enjoy music as you should. Extract audio files from a CD with ease and edit them with Audacity or record your own. Make your own music with Lmms, along with ardour as a music studio. Play your favorite movies with mPlayer and stream them with VLC, no codec packs needed, both mPlayer and VLC allready have them. Don't like one of your movies? Edit it with Open Movie editor, THE opensource movie editor. Edit your ISO files with ISOmaster, burn all your movies, pictures and music with GNOMEbaker and Brasero.
Enjoy all classic games and more, with card-games, mahjongg, sudoku, chess etc... At your disposall by default and a lot more games available in synaptic. With PlayOnLinux you can even install some High-end windows games, for instance Far Cry 2 will run on LastLinux. Don't get overexcited true gamers should dual-boot, all smaller games (ppGames) work great on wine - even faster then on Windows.
Install your 3rd party hardware drivers unattended, use a Firewall to deny incoming traffic and to make (expert) rules. Change network settings, use network tools like whois. Change the default language and install other language-packs with ease. Edit partitions configure printers, make system back-ups, install additional packages, manage updates monitor your system, add users and groups, as an Admin there are plentyof tools ad your disposal. Best thing is, no basic user is going to destroy your system, all admin tasks require root password, changing system files requires root password, even deleting system files requires root password. No one is going to (accidently) mess up the system anymore.
