The new Samsung LED TVs (Series 7) have a builtin media player based on ffmpeg. You can play movies directly on the TV using DLNA streaming or a USB device. The television has a network jack in the back and you can get it on your local network.

This torrent is the manual for the 7000 and 7100 models.

You can read the details regarding movie playback on pages 50-54. The supported container and codecs are specified on page 52.

I don't know if the resolution they specify means your video has to be at that resolution or if that is the MAX resolution supported. I am guessing it is the MAX resolution supported.

I think this is a pretty exciting TV. You no longer need an external device like a popcorn hour to play video files directly on your TV.

They have these TV's currently at Best Buy in the US. I suggest bringing some of your movies with you on a Thumb drive to the store and see if they play back.
