Torrent description

Where: CBeebies

When: Various times during the day, May and November 2007 (for individual airdates of episodes in this pack see Episode Descriptions).

About the show:

Originally from the CBeebies website:

"WELCOME TO LAZYTOWN!

Motivating children to make healthy lifestyle choices.

The philosophy of LazyTown is to motivate children and inspire them to live a healthy life. Using humour, music, high-quality production and strong values it enables children to make positive choices for their physical and social well being.

The producers believe that the best way to engage the audience and empower them to take this message on board is to lead by inspiration and example. With its mixture of music, movement, humour and interactivity, LazyTown has the ability to draw kids into a slightly exaggerated version of their own world.

In this fresh, cartoon-coloured town, they can't help but engage in the imaginative stories, relate to the characters that make them laugh and be amazed by a sporty Superhero with an amazing ability to make even ordinary things exciting.

Healthy Lifestyle through Entertainment

The characters serve as simple metaphorical guides for children and their parents. Reflecting the Cbeebies ethos of learning through play the programme aims to motivate the audience through characters and stories that will encourage them to depend on and trust their own insights and good judgment in their own lives.

LazyTown is designed to give kids the power to GO! play, move, dance, sing, make new choices and feel really good about it.

The Characters

In the show, STEPHANIE (an optimistic 8-year-old with bright-pink hair) comes to LazyTown and meets its zany mix of townspeople, including the world's laziest super-villain, ROBBIE ROTTEN. Fortunately for Stephanie, LazyTown is also watched over by SPORTACUS, an athletic, super-fit super-hero who runs, jumps, and flips his way across LazyTown while helping the inhabitants battle Robbie's latest lazy schemes.

The other kids of LazyTown are curious, playful, and like Stephanie, actively engaged in figuring out their world. Each has strengths and weaknesses, just like real kids. These kids symbolize the challenges and opportunities that real kids face in everyday kid life. ZIGGY likes candy just a little too much; STINGY just can't seem to share; PIXEL is glued to video games; TRIXIE finds it difficult to follow rules; and Stephanie has trouble navigating between making a healthy choice or opting for the easy way out.

A final word from the creator of LazyTown

Magnus Scheving created Lazytown and also plays the part of Sporticus.

"The main thing about LazyTown is that we never mention the word exercise" says Scheving, "this is not an exercise program for kids. It's an entertainment through role models ... and is about balance, choices and motivation".

"I went around the world to 52 different countries to represent the next thing in fitness, and I saw no role model for kids, no one interested in obesity," says Magnus.

"I realized that the things parents always asked me about were exactly the same wherever I went," he says. "They wanted their kids to be educated, safe and to eat healthy food . . . to go to sleep and brush their teeth." "

Notes:
I'll leave the episode numbering up to the individual downloader. General consensus seems to be that the episodes can be identified as follows:

S02E13 LazyTown Goes Digital
S02E15 Once Upon A Time
S02E16 The Lazy Rockets
S02E17 Dancing Dreams
S02E18 Sportacus Saves The Toys

Episode Descriptions:

Dancing Dreams (11 November 2007)
Stephanie and Ziggy decide to open a dance school. When Rotten Robbie hears this, he traps Sportacus in a trunk tied to helium balloons and sends it floating away. But Robbie gets stuck in the trunk too. It's up to Stephanie and her uncle to save Sportacus and Robbie in a daring aerial rescue.

LazyTown Goes Digital (20 May 2007)
Pixel is convinced that technology can solve every problem, but when Robbie shows up and rewires everything, LazyTown is turned upside down. Sportacus arrives to save the day, and Pixel learns that even technology has its limits.

Once Upon A Time (10 November 2007)
Pixel invents a device that allows the kids to be 'scanned' into their favourite fairy tale. Robbie Rotten, angry that the villains always lose in these stories, jumps in as the Big Bad Wolf. Sportacus must save the day when the fairy tale world starts fading away.

Sportacus Saves The Toys (04 November 2007)
Robbie invents a machine that steals all the toys in Lazytown, and sends Sportacus to Paris and China, so he will be out of the way forever!

The Lazy Rockets (03 November 2007)
Robbie decides to enter the LazyTown car race to prove that he's the fastest town. When he sabotages the kids' cars, they gather all of their remaining car parts to create one supercar! Robbie uses a turbo engine to cheat but his car goes out of control and he must be saved by Sportacus.
