"Times are hard in Utterly. Bradley Hardacre {Timothy West}, owner of the brass factory as well as everything else in the town, is the most ruthless of men. The Hardacres enjoy a life of luxury, much to the continuing disgust of Agnes Fairchild whose husband George is ever the unswervingly loyal employee.
The relationships between the Hardacres and Fairchilds are heating up, much to Morris Hardacre's annoyance and disgust. Bradley has his heart set on an earldom, and no one is going to get in his way. Meanwhile a royal visit to Utterly is not without its troubles from the trademark mill chimney being on the verge of collapse to family saboteurs, will the visit be a success or will Bradley be left red faced?"
