It feels like a bit of the heart has gone out of Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer in this latest series. The arch banter feels forced and certainly Allsopp seems increasingly desperate at the outlandish and indeed often unreasonable requests from increasingly picky househunters. But nothing dents the show's success with audiences, with upwards of three million viewers tuning in every week. Maybe we like to share in Kirstie and Phil's pain. Or we just like yelling at people with tiny budgets and big, daft ideas. Tonight the couple are in posh and lovely Windsor, helping Englishman Paul and his American bride Alissa to find their dream home. They've been searching for three months (no time at all, by some searchers' standards) but have yet to find The One. The programme was still being edited as we went to press, but we do know that Alissa is keen on big mansions, although she and her husband have a mere 300,000 pounds to spend. And Windsor's expensive. The night's other hopeful is Matt, a long-time backpacker who has decided it's time to put down roots. He wants to buy a home close to his family but, so far, he hasn't made much effort. It's up to Kirstie and Phil to jolly him along.
