Reviews:

Fantastic production, 20 June 2003
Author: Blueghost from the San Francisco Bay Area

I caught this on HBO years ago, and was dazzled by the production values. I was even more stunned by the fact that it was a 1971 production: a period in film that was very transitional for children's venues. The sets, costumes and dancing are all executed with a great amount of care in this production. Grab a copy for your kids or grandkids, and watch it with them. You won't be dissapointed.

One can only hope that it will see a DVD release someday.

Delightful for both children and grown-ups, 10 October 1998
10/10
Author: Henryk von Babenberg from Hamburg, Germany

A time-less masterpiece based on Beatrix Potter´s children´s stories. Beautifully acted (danced) and delightful in every way. Watch out for Joan Benham in the small silent role of Beatrix´ childhood nurse

First there's no dialog, the language is in the movement of the dancers. A more timeless fairy tale film that can be watched by all. The animal characters, the way they perform in costume is great for the moves that they make, it's well done and graceful.

I'd like to thank s029di at the Pirate Bay for posting the original DVD there. One day I was taking paper to the Abitibi Paper Retriever box and found a teen magazine called 'Spec' in there that looked old and interesting. It was from November 1971, and on the back page they were talking about new movies that were going to come out and Peter Rabbit and the Tales Of Beatrix Potter was one of those new movies:

"The most fabulous new flick to hit the screen in ages is MGM's colorful beauty called Peter Rabbit And The Tales Of Beatrix Potter. When it comes your way, don't ask any questions--just go see it! And if you aren't lucky enough to have the rare pleasure of watching Peter Rabbit, Tabatha Twitchit, Squirrel Nutkin and Jemimah Puddleduck--to name a few (all the parts are danced by England's Royal Ballet), of course you can always buy your very own little Beatrix Potter book--her beautifully illustrated and sensitive little books have such titles as The Tale Of Tom Kitten (who hated to wear clothes!). The Tale Of Mrs. Tiggywinkle, The Tale Of The Two Bad Mice and, of course, The Tale Of Peter Rabbit--at your nearest neighborhood bookstore ..."

That's what Spec wrote. There was also a picture.. That's how I found out about it and got interested.
