Due ex commilitoni che hanno messo in piedi una compagnia di varietà, vengono scritturati per la festa di Natale al "Paradiso della neve", un albergo di montagna che però è deserto perché manca... la neve. L'hotel è del loro vecchio generale che ormai è sull'orlo del fallimento. In nome dell'antico cameratismo i due si mettono d'impegno e la festa è un trionfo. Per giunta arriva anche la neve e... l'amore.

Bellissime le canzoni di Irving Berlin, tra le quali "What Can You Do With a General" e "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing". Fu il primo film ad essere girato in vistavision. Grandi i protagonisti.

After leaving the Army after W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General.
