I've been in a state of flux rearranging everything on my computer. Torrents have had to be moved around. I think they will stay put from now on.
In that case I will upload Upstairs, Downstairs again.
This is one big video. My wife and I have watched the entire thing twice,
all 68 episodes. We like it very much. The lack of subtitles combined with
the great many different accents and dialects make it difficult to understand.
You will see that I wrote subtitles for the very first episode and part of a later one. I'm thinking about doing more, but I'm intimidated by the fact that I, a country boy from Texas, USA, have no business trying to interpolate all of this very complicated speech. I'm sure most any educated Englishman can do much better than I. I do not understand why they haven't done so before.
The main reason I became involved in writing subtitles in the first place was to leave posterity what should have been done long ago. Foreigners and the hard-of-hearing can now enjoy some of the good classis that never had subtitles in the first place. The Academy Award winner Cyrano de Bergerac of 1950 should have had subtitles long before I came along.
So, I ask forgiveness in advance for my many mistakes, and I hope somebody will pick from here and clean my work all up.
