SYNOPSIS:

Two young women reawaken love in this beautiful Taiwanese film. According to legend, spider lilies line the path to hell. Tattoo artist Takeko keeps a tattoo of this flower on the wall of her studio and wears it on her body in order to remind herself and her brother of their father.

When Jade, a cybersex web cam, girl visits Takeko’s tattoo studio she becomes entranced with the image of the spider lily and with Takeko as well. In order to get closer to the object of her desire, Jade asks Takeko to give her the same lily tattoo, challenging Takeko’s monastic existence and opening up memories which threaten to tear the two women apart.

This film is a beautifully woven narrative moving between the present and events of a devastating earthquake ten years earlier. Its strong sense of style and striking cinematography has ensured this film huge success all around the world – in its hometown of Taipei it became a top grossing blockbuster.
