The new X-OOM Media Center software addition will mean users can access all digital media on a PC via the Wii s built-in Wi-Fi capability. Users will be able to access their music, photos and films on their Wii without having to have the PC in the same room as them.
X-OOM Media Center is designed to connect the Wii console to your computer through a WLAN or LAN link allowing full access to media files on the PC. By "media", the developer refers to photos (JPG and BMP), music (MP3, WMA, and OGG) and video (DivX, XviD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and WMV).
By using X-OOM Media Center, the user will eliminate the need for cables, memory cards or discs as the application relies entirely on Wii's built-in Wi-Fi connection. More than this, the media will be perfectly accessible with Nintendo's wireless remote controls.
This software will not require anything installed on the Wii.
It works like Orb does, in so much as you access content generated on the PC as if it were an interactive website, so you ll need to have Opera browser running.
This will install a amp-server (Apache MySQL PHP) on your PC.
A webclient on the Wii is mandatory!
Read the program-HELP to get this working, all is explained there.
