Ga Ma Bha Na, a theatrical adaptation of Milind Bokils novel Shala (School), has been praised by everyone from Sreeram Lagoo to Raj Thackeray. Were happy to say that the play lives up to the hype. Performed by about 30 young actors, most of whom are from Ruia College, the play is a realistic depiction of adolescent attitudes to sex and relationships. The popular book is in its sixth edition and the play has completed 115 shows since it was first staged in October 2006.

Ga Ma Bha Na peeps into the minds of a bunch of four village schoolboys who are beginning to come to terms with their sex-related curiosities. Each one represents a different caste and social stratum. The play not only offers insight into each child but is also a window to the mindset of the people around them. The four friends speak their minds on many taboo issues. One wants to know how to get close to a girl in class, one wants co-operation in his plan to marry off his English teacher who is a dictatorial spinster, another loses sleep over his first wet dream and the fourth cannot concentrate on his studies because of fights between his parents
