A married couple are terrorized by a series of videotapes planted on their front porch...
The story itself is inherently French, with mention of a tragic French/Algerian conflict in 1961 and racial tensions in and around Paris that persist to this day, but the theme of unearthing the dark secrets behind the glossy veneer of an otherwise picture perfect family (played wonderfully by Daniel Auteuil and Juliette Binoche) is universal. When you begin to dissect who was actually terrorizing whom with videotapes, alarming cartoon sketches, vague threats, and sudden bursts of graphic violence, it becomes clear that this small conflict represents a microcosm of current world events.
