Out of Rosenheim (Bagdad Café)is a look into the minds and lives of some people most of us have metbut few of us know much about. This movie exemplifies how one person inthe right place can affect a community of lives. The Adlons seem toexpress the view that all change and "magic" comes from hard work andmutual acceptance. A well-crafted view of the lives of touristseverywhere and the difficulties they can face. A Whimsical and lovinglyPhotographed look at the vast wasteland that is too often ignored bymuch of humanity.

Actress Marianne Sägebrecht reunites with her Sugarbaby director, PercyAdlon, in this story of a German woman abandoned by her husband in theMojave desert and taken into a kooky community at a remote café. C.C.H.Pounder (Dr. Angela Hicks on television's ER) gives an atypicallyunhinged performance as the café owner, and Jack Palance is wonderfulas an artist who wants to capture on canvas the beauty he perceives inthe rotund Sägebrecht. Adlon's warm but slightly unreal colors give thefilm a hint of fantasy and time standing still for a life-changingadventure. --Tom Keogh
