Glenn Clark was searching for a versatile genius who knew and used universal law and would be an inspiration to others. He found Walter Russell, musician, illustrator, portrait painter, architectural designer, sculptor, business practices advisor to employees of IBM, champion figure skater, natural scientist, philosopher and author.
"Can you give me the secret of your life?" Glenn Clark asked Walter Russell.
"I believe sincerely that every man has consummate genius within him," replied Russell. "Some appear to have it more than others only because they are aware of it more than others are, and the awareness or unawareness of it is what makes each one of them into masters or holds them down to mediocrity. I believe that mediocrity is self-inflicted and genius is self-bestowed. Every successful person I ever have known, and I have know a great many, carries within him the key which unlocks that awareness and lets in the universal power that has made him into a master."
"What is that key?" queried Glenn Clark.
"That key is desire when it is released into the great eternal Energy of the universe."
Through Glenn Clark's world-famous biography of Walter Russell, who was known in his own time as the modern Leonardo da Vinci, the most versatile man in America, and the man who tapped the secrets of the universe, we meet the man, the artist and the man of action. Walter Russell in his own words discusses the nature of developing the genius inherent within, and reveals his personal "Five Laws of Success."
Please note that unlike a much smaller PDF that is circulating on the internet, this is a scan of the printed copy and includes several photos of Walter Russell's sculptures.
I just wish it didn't include part of the hand of the guy who photocopied the book - what a wally!
I suppose we cal all live with that until someone uploads a clean copy perhaps? ;)
About Walter Russell
(just in case anybody missed the other posts)
Walter Russell (1871–1963) was an American polymath, known for his achievements in painting, sculpture, architecture, and for his unified theory in physics and cosmogony.
He posited that the universe was founded on a unifying principle of rhythmic balanced interchange. This physical theory, laid out primarily in his books The Secret of Light (1947) and The Message of the Divine Iliad (1948–49), has not been accepted by mainstream scientists. Russell asserted that this was mainly due to differences between himself and scientists in their assumptions about the existence of mind or matter.
Russell was also proficient in philosophy, music, ice-skating, and was a professor at the institution he founded, the University of Science and Philosophy.
He believed mediocrity is self-inflicted and genius is self-bestowed. :-D
In 1963, Walter Cronkite in the national television evening news, commenting on Dr. Walter Russel's passing, referred to him as "... the Leonardo DaVinci of our time."
