Torrent description

Photographer – HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON
As soon as this release has been seeded I will no longer support this 1.3GB torrent release. Therefore, the survival of this release is reliant on early leechers staying on as seeders once they’ve reached 100%. Torrents over 1GB are always harder to keep afloat, IF YOU LIKE THE CONTENTS OF THIS TORRENT - HELP SEED IT.

The Decisive Moment [1973/2004]_720x544
Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) is one of the legendary figures of 20th-century photography and one of the founders of the celebrated Magnum photo agency. Cartier-Bresson's aim was to capture what he called the "decisive moment" when the visual structure and the emotional resonance of the scene before him were in perfect accord. It was the camera's unrivalled ability to preserve such unexpected, fleeting occasions, he felt, that made photography the most exciting visual medium of his time.

Made in 1973 as part of a series organized by Cornell Capa, this audiovisual presentation provides a rare instance of the photographer, speaking fluently in English, offering succinct yet widely ranging observations on the nature of the photographic medium. His remarks are paired with many of his best-known photographs. Comparing photography in turn to a sketchbook, a psychoanalytical couch, a warm kiss, and a machine gun, Cartier-Bresson vividly conveys the medium's boundless possibilities and constant challenges, as well as its unique satisfactions.

18min NTSC DVD ripped to XviD AVI (1000Kbps with stereo MP3 sound at 192Kbps).

The Impassioned Eye [2003]_480p
A wonderful, evocative biography of the man considered the greatest photographer of the last century. Cartier-Bresson’s life reads like a history of the century – World War II, China, Egypt, Mexico, India, Sartre, Matisse, Ghandi (minutes before he was killed), and Cuba all became subjects of his famous "decisive moment" style. Interviews with Cartier-Bresson, Isabelle Huppert, Arthur Miller and other luminaries are woven into this indelible portrait of an icon of both photography and the world.

72min NTSC DVD ripped to XviD AVI (1000Kbps with stereo MP3 sound at 192Kbps). Narration in English with English overdubs for foreign languages spoken throughout the documentary.

Just Plain Love [2001]_VHSto576p
Just Plain Love is a reseed of a torrent that I previously made available, but it constantly goes in and out of a seeded state. Here is the original torrent link:

Along with Cartier-Bresson interviews this film also contains interviews with other creative artists (other photographers, a musician, a film director, etc.). At first glance the interviews and footage of other artists may seem arbitrary, but their incorporation is often linked to an idea OR comment that Henri has made during the course of the documentary. Therefore the film uses the common threads found in other creative pursuits to exemplify the principles underlying Cartier-Bresson’s oeuvre.

Most of the dialogue is in French and Italian, so much of the documentary has embedded English subtitles. This 70min documentary was originally recorded on a mono VHS recorder, so the stereo sound is a duplicated mono track.
