An award winning, amazing true story for Christians and Jews of all ages. How a small rural middle school discovered a way to make a difficult to comprehend, horrific event, the Holocaust understandable in a way that touched the hearts and minds of people around the world. Excellent educational tool for diversity and tolerance.

One of the Top Five Documentaries of 2004
- The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures

Audience Award, Best Documentary Feature
- 2004 Palm springs International Film Festival

Audience Award, Best Overall Film
- 2004 Rome International Film Festival

Do not dismiss this film because you already "know" about the Holocaust. It is essential to share it with those who do not. Why? Most of us are part of some minority; perhaps by race, religion, accent, origin, one way or another. All minorities are dependent on the understanding and acceptance of the majority. Encourage this film to be shown at local public schools, private schools, and community events promoting diversity. The price of allowing hatred and intolerance to grow by doing nothing, demonstrated by the Holocaust, is too high.

Whitwell, TN is a small, rural community of less than two thousand people nestled in the mountains of Tennessee. Its citizens are almost exclusively white and Christian. In 1998, the children of Whitwell Middle School took on an inspiring project, launched out of their principal's desire to help her students open their eyes to the diversity of the world beyond their insulated valley. What happened would change the students, their teachers, their families and the entire town forever… and eventually open hearts and minds around the world.

When the students of Tennessee's Whitwell Middle School began studying the Holocaust as a way to learn about intolerance and diversity, nobody could have predicted the results. Struggling to grasp the consept of 6 million Jewish Holocaust victims, it was decided to collect 6 million paper clips to better undertstand the enormity of the calamity. They discovered that an additional 5 million non-Jewish minority people were also exterminated. In 2001, the Paper Clip Project culminated in a unique memorial that changed the lives of those who created it, as well as touching Holocaust survivors and countless communities.

Because Norwegians invented the paper clip and used it as a symbol of solidarity against the Nazis, students started collecting them to help visualize such vast numbers of victims. As word spread online and in the media, paper clips poured in from around the world, 11 million of which are enshrined in an authentic German railcar standing in the schoolyard. "Patiently told and lovingly made" (Variety), this inspiring, award-winning documentary shows how even small-town students and educators can teach the world powerful lessons.
