The Answers is the debut album by Blue October. It was recorded in October 1997 at Sound Arts Studio in Houston, Texas and released in the United States in 1998 by RoDan Entertainment/Scoop. It is Blue October's only album featuring founding member and bassist Liz Mullally, who also played piano on the album.
Consent to Treatment is the second album by Blue October. It was recorded at Bay 7 Studios in Valley Village and Media Vortex in Burbank, California and released in the United States Aug 15, 2000 by Universal Records. It is the band's major label debut and only album to feature former member Brant Coulter on guitar and their first album featuring Matt Noveskey. The opening track is a spoken word poem written by Justin Furstenfeld and recited by Blue Miller. Ryann Smith sings the female backing vocals on "The Answer."
History for Sale is the third album by Blue October. The title of the album comes from a lyric in the song "Amazing". It was recorded at Sound Arts Studios in Houston, Texas and Stomp Box Studios in Arlington, Texas and released in the United States on April 8, 2003 by Brando Records. It is the only Blue October album to feature former member Dwayne Casey on bass guitar, and the band's first album featuring lead guitarist C.B. Hudson. The track "Come in Closer" features guest vocals by Zayra Alvarez, who later, on the CBS reality show Rockstar: Supernova, sang the song "Razorblade" on her final episode before being voted off. History for Sale was voted best album in the 2003 Houston Press Music Awards.
Argue with a Tree... is the fourth album by Blue October. The title of the album comes from a lyric in the song "Weight of the World." It was recorded live on June 4, 2004 at Lakewood Theater in Dallas, Texas and released as a double CD and DVD in the United States in 2004 by Brando/Universal Records. The set includes live versions of songs from all of Blue October's studio albums, as well as the unreleased tracks "Weight of the World" and "Pro Re Nata". It is the only Blue October release to feature bassist Piper Dagnino.
Foiled is the fourth album by Blue October. The album was certified gold in the United States on August 9, 2006 and on February 22, 2007 was certified platinum. The album is also popular in Canada where it has also achieved platinum status.
The live disc, titled Teach Your Baby Well Live, was recorded at Stubb's in Austin, Texas on March 24, 2007. The concert represents the first time that the songs "Let it Go" and "Angel" had been performed during a concert on the Teach Your Baby Well tour. "Congratulations" is the only song from Foiled that was not played at the concert.

Approaching Normal is the title of Blue October's fifth studio album. The album was released on March 24, 2009. Justin Furstenfeld unveiled the title and tentative track listing on Blue October's website on January 31, 2008. Pre-production of the album began at the beginning of 2008 with demos being recorded at 5am Studio in Austin, Texas. The entire album just like Saving Abel's self-titled album and Nickelback's Dark Horse, was made on Pro Tools and FL Studio, and hardly featured any live instruments during it's recording.
