This week it's straight into the story and no messin' abaht. Wheeler-dealer Archie's doing a favour for his old mate Maurice (Rik Mayall) and wife, Jess (Meera Syal), by making sure the groom turns up this time for their daughter's wedding. Of course it's not as simple as all that: there's a menacing loan shark; a miserable, off-key singer (by far the funniest performance of the whole episode - his version of 10cc's I'm Not in Love is painfully funny); a wedding photographer more used to making blue movies; and a dodgy wine scam thrown into the mix. The result is harmless enough, although the relentless chirpiness of the revamped Minder can be wearing. More crucially, it just doesn't have the wit of the original.
