Crown Court was courtroom drama which ran between 1972 to 1984 and shown in the afternoons on ITV where it was produced by Granada Television. A court case in the Crown Court of the fictional town of Fulchester would typically be played out over three weekdays in half-hour episodes. Although those involved in the case were actors, the jury was made up of members of the general public from the local Granada Television area and it was this jury alone which decided the verdict.
TO CATCH A THIEF: REGINA v HALSEY
Synopsis: When an Impressionist painting worth £75,000 was stolen from the Brabazon Art Gallery it turned up ten days later in the boot of a stolen car. However there was amazement when the car turned out to be owned by Brabazon's accountant Ronald Halsey. He is now charged with theft while the man who stole the car Eddie White walks free.
