This episode is from 1977 but was rebroadcast in 1996 as part of Granada at 40's celebrations.Taken from a VHS tape of 13 years old the picture quality is ok, but the sound is quite hissy.
note the blue Granada logo at the beginning and end proudly announcing that it was a colour production, hard to believe now but at the time not everyone had a colour TV!
All the classic characters are in this episode, Annie, Hilda & Stan, Elsie, Ken, Emily, Bet, Betty etc
Gail apologises to Suzie when she discovers how Bob really is. Bet plans a party to celebrate Annie being in the Rovers for forty years. Bob accuses Elsie of turning Suzie against him and tells her he doesn't want Suzie living with a tart like her. Elsie throws him out. Bob tries to force Suzie into his car, Steve stops him and Bob hits him. Bob tells Suzie he never wants to see her again. Annie is touched when the residents throw a party for her. She is astonished when Billy arrives as a special guest. Richard Cresswell comes from the Brewery and presents an emotional Annie with a commemerative silver tray. Deirdre is followed home and is assaulted under the viaduct.
