[b]Alec Guinness -Parkinson show
From the first BBC1 series (1971-1982) BBC video of the wonderful Michael Parkinson interview with Sir Alec Guinness. In 1977, the interview-shy Guinness appeared on Michael Parkinson's BBC chat show, and here is that entire 68-minute episode with Sir Alec at his best; among his anecdotes is his encounter with James Dean and his Porsche 550 Spyder days before the Dean's death in the car. Guinness was a rather reclusive person, and the long interview with him is filled with great stories. Produced by Annie Lewis Marffy, the program was broadcast by BBC1on October 10, 1977

This interview is an opportunity to gain insight into Olivier and the myth and mystery surrounding this great person. Olivier is open and honest, discussing at length his preparation for Hamlet and Henry V and noting he was initially reluctant about filming Richard III . He also makes the startling statement that his performance in the film is based partly on an old English comic, but mostly on that staple of Mother Goose mayhem, the "big bad wolf."
