This video was being filmed while I was MCRD San Diego in 1989. A couple of my Drill Instructors appear in here, Staff Sergeant Tuthill and Sergeant Cook. This was most likely their training platoon prior to mine. It came out toward the end of our training phase in November 1989, because I remember on our visitors Sunday, we watched it.

I don't know how much has changed, but this is a pretty good look into recruit training and how it was when I was in. A few differences I noticed were various uniforms. This was kind of a crossover period in uniform standards. The recruits in the video had the yellow "USMC" shirts, we did not. However, we both had the platoon honorman being the only one who received/earned dress blues.
