HAVE FUN !!
As this is a test release , it would be much apprieciated if you can log any success's or failure's
along with your CPU type (Athlon64 , Turion , Opteron) and details of any problems to
[email protected] . Specifically segfaults , X11 crashes + DRI problems .
Below gives a brief description of some of the packages included with lazydragon-v2 .
NON-LINEAR VIDEO EDITORS
Cinelerra-2.1 CV : Cinelerra takes what normally is a boring server - studied in computer science classrooms,
hidden in back offices - and turns it into a 50,000 watt flamethrower of multimedia editing. Cinelerra does
primarily 3 main things: capturing, compositing, and editing audio and video with sample level accuracy.
Cinelerra is more stable in a 64 bit operating system than a 32 bit operating system. The reason is
intermediate address calculations start screwing up at around 512MB on a 32 bit system. Fortunately Cinelerra
and Linux are now fully functional on the dew-opp. The dual Opteron, that is.
LiVES-0.9.2.8 : LiVES began in 2002 as the Linux Video Editing System. Since it now runs on more operating
systems, LiVES is a Video Editing System. It is designed to be simple to use, yet powerful. It is small in
size, yet it has many advanced features. LiVES lets you start editing and making video right away, without
having to worry about formats, frame sizes, or framerates. LiVES will let you start creating your own tools,
utilities and effects via the built in RFX builder.
LiVES is aimed at the digital video artist who wants to create their own content, the video editor who wants
to produce professional looking video, and the VJ who wants to captivate with spectacular images.
KDEnlive-0.4: Kdenlive is a video editing GUI for KDE using the MLT video framework. Kdenlive provides dual
video monitors, a multi-track timeline and clip list. Other features include customizable layout support,
basic effects and transitions . Editing in Kdenlive is possible with various tools via the timeline and video
monitors, allowing you to move and resize one or more clips, and razor clips into two. All timeline tools can
snap to clip start/ends and the current seek position. Kdenlive communicates with a render engine which
handles the actual video data.
KINO-0.9.5: Kino is a non-linear DV editor for GNU/Linux. It features excellent integration with IEEE-1394
for capture, VTR control, and recording back to the camera. It captures video to disk in Raw DV and AVI
format, in both type-1 DV and type-2 DV (separate audio stream) encodings. You can load multiple video
clips, cut and paste portions of video/audio, and save it to an edit decision list (SMIL XML format). Most
edit and navigation commands are mapped to equivalent vi key commands. Kino has won a
2006 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Award for the Video Authoring Application of the Year category.
VIDEO PLAYERS/RENDERING ENGINES.
MPlayer/Mencoder: MPlayer is a movie player which runs on many systems (see the documentation). It plays most
MPEG/VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, RealMedia, Matroska, NUT, NuppelVideo, FLI, YUV4MPEG,
FILM, RoQ, PVA files, supported by many native, XAnim, and Win32 DLL codecs. You can watch VideoCD, SVCD,
DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5 and even WMV movies. The current build for Lazy64 has been patched to support 64bit
real-media codecs . MEncoder is a free command line video decoding, encoding and filtering tool released
under the GNU General Public License. It is a close sibling to MPlayer and can convert all the formats that
MPlayer understands into a variety of compressed and uncompressed formats using different codecs. Lazy64
comes with many GUI frontends to mencoders encoding capabilities , including 'acidrip' & 'OGMRip' .
XINE: xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files
like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet.
It interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available - and some of the most
uncommon formats, too.
DVD AUTHORING , SUBTITLE CREATORS/RIPPERS.
QDVDAUTHOR 0.1.3: The goal of 'Q' DVD-Author is to provide a complete DVDAuthoring solution for Linux with
the emphasis of ease of use and a complete set of functionality. # You can use a simple Template dialog to
create your menus.

# You can generate MovieButtons
subtitleripper-0.3.4: If you want to convert DVD subtitles into text format (e.g. subrip format) or VobSub
format this program could be useful for you.

copies of DVD content on single-layer writable DVDs. Features include; Command-line and graphical interface ,
Scriptable , Copy single movies , Copy multiple episodes ,Selectable audio stream (AC3 only) ,
Option for one subtitle stream per DVD title .
LADSPA : LADSPA is an acronym for Linux Audio Developers Simple Plugin API. It is an LGPLed standard for
handling filters and effects. It was originally designed for Linux through consensus on the Linux Audio
Developers Mailing List, but works on a variety of other platforms. It is used in many free audio software
projects and there is a wide range of LADSPA plugins available. LazyDragon X86_64 comes with almost
200 LADSPA plugins (About 190) .
ROSEGARDEN-1.4.0: Rosegarden is a free software digital audio workstation program developed for GNU/Linux
with ALSA and KDE. It acts as an audio and MIDI sequencer, scorewriter and musical composition and editing
tool. It is intended to be a free replacement for such applications as Cubase. Rosegarden has an impressive
feature set , including ;
# MIDI and audio playback and recording with ALSA and JACK
# Piano-roll, score, event list and track overview editors
# LADSPA audio effects plugin support
# JACK transport support for synchronisation with other software
LMMS-0.2.1: LMMS aims to be a free alternative to popular (but commercial and closed- source) programs like
FruityLoops, Cubase and Logic giving you the ability of producing music with your computer by creating cool
loops, synthesizing and mixing sounds, arranging samples, having more fun with your MIDI-keyboard and
much more... Using LMMS you can produce electronic music with your computer, so you don't have to buy
expensive hardware for having great sounds and making cool music. Of course no software can replace real
hardware-synths, but you'll have still much fun with LMMS and especially users being new to music-production
at all will learn things in a really easy way!
MUSE-0.9pre1: MusE is a MIDI/Audio sequencer with recording and editing capabilities written by
Werner Schweer. MusE aims to be a complete multitrack virtual studio for Linux, it is published under

and the vendor-neutral OpenDocument standard from OASIS.
OpenOffice.org wins awards for its quality, innovativeness, usability.
Enlightenment DR17 : Development Release 17 of the Enlightenment window manager represents an evolution into
the next generation of desktop environments: the desktop shell. DR17 will provide integration between files
and your environment in a seamless manner while encompassing a graphically rich and flexible architecture.
It will not compete with GNOME or KDE, but be a completely new way of visualizing your desktop, based
around the EFL which was built from the ground up for this task.
Fluxbox : Fluxbox is a lightweight window manager for the X Windowing System. Fluxbox provides configurable
window decorations, a root menu to launch applications and a toolbar that shows the current workspace name,
a set of application names and the current time. There is also a workspace menu which allows you to add or
