One year after the 10th anniversary edition, I love Techno once again presents a sample of the best electronic music around today. Apart from shifting from November to October, the concept remains unchanged: 5 “rooms” with live performances and DJs, both up-and-coming talent and known acts.
The headliner here is Kraftwerk. These godfathers of the techno movement and the electronic music will be collaborated with some of the most innovative dance producers currently around for I Love Techno. And from Germany: Teifschwarz with an addictive mix of electro, house, pop and techno. You can also find the young techno phenomenon James Holden, French Philippe Zdar (from Cassius) and electro king Dr. Lektroluv.
In the Green Room the harder works are central this year. Exclusively for Belgium, DJ Rush, grandmaster of the “hard techno”, will introduce his live project. Eastern Europe is well represented by Marko Nastic (Serbia) and Valentino Kanzyani (Slovenia). The Dutch Saskia Slegers aka Miss Djax will be bringing a live set full of strong acid and techno. The Belgian honor is saved by Q-IC, winner of the Switch competition for young talent in 2003. The Green Room line-up is completed with the Brazilian Pet Duo.
Everything here revolves about the versatile brothers Dewaele. As 2 many DJs they created unique mixes and with Soulwax Nite Versions they had a go at remixing their own music. In the Orange Room they will make a musical journey together with a number of soul mates. The Canadian star Tiga is of course present, but there is also room for new talent. Boys Noize makes a blend of electro, minimal and punk funk. Parisian Justice and Digitalism will also be present.
The veterans’ room. Carl Craig from Detroit (the city of techno) is one of the most groundbreaking producers in the genre. Founder Laurent Garnier is putting on a combined live and DJ set lasting 4 hours. The Belgians, Jan Van Biesen and T-Quest, are working together behind the turntables as The Dominators. Opening act Deetron guarantees a daring mix of club, house and techno.
I Love Techno never says no to pioneer Dave Clarke. And much respect for the men from Technasia that will be presenting their latest record “Popsoda” live. They are also bringing along Rotterdammer Joris Voorn, whose star is rising at the moment. For live work you have to visit Motor in the Red Room.
