Based on one of the most famous mysterious disappearances in the world. Richard John Bingham, the Seventh Earl of Lucan was accused of the murder of 29 year old nanny, Sandra Rivett on November 7, 1974, at his family home at 46 Lower Belgrave Street, in London. On November 10, police found his borrowed Ford Corsair abandoned some 16 miles away near the docks of Newhaven. Since then there have been many reported "sightings" of Lord Lucan around the globe viz. Africa, Australia, the Netherlands, Ireland and Sicily.The film flicks back over the events, as a reporter interviews the policeman who was on the case to try and piece the facts of the case together.

Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan (born 18 December 1934), British aristocrat known as Lord Bingham from 1949 to 1964 and colloquially known as "Lucky" Lucan, disappeared in the early hours of 8 November 1974, following the murder of Sandra Rivett, his children's nanny, the previous evening. There has been no verified sighting of him since then.
On 19 June 1975 an inquest jury named him as the murderer of Sandra Rivett. He was presumed deceased in chambers 11 December 1992 and declared legally dead in October 1999.
