Barcelona Bakalao is a multicultural improvisation rave project, started by Diego Garci'a (former vintage
synthpop performer), Dimitry Ghost (8bit/electro dj from Moscow) and Owen Meyers (experimental
electronica from Canada). The group serves as a platform for improvised dance music. Inspired by
90s raves, 80s acid house, 70s electronics, synthpunk, eurodance, etc. as well as absurdist ideas of dada-rave music. Artists perform on various analog synthesizers, casios and the innovative Tenori-on. Video support by VJ Dr. Tikov.
Equipment: Korg MS-20, Korg MS-10, theremin, Tenori-on, Gakken SX-150, Jomox, Casio SA-5, etc.
Underground (adj). Artistic scene, apparently unrelated to others, appreciated by an audience who are tired of artists promoted by the media and the general public. A sincere and personal search that can be found in the essence of this session: Barcelona Bakalao are Diego Garci'a (vintage wizard) and Dimitry Ghost (dj 8bit/electro from Moscow), whose improvisations are inspired in 80s acid house, 70s electronica, synthpunk, Eurodance, and the idea of Dadaist rave. Images from Dr. Tikov, producer of Russian electronica/dub and Ayesha’s new project soon to be released who on this occasion acts as VJ. Come and see, and when they’re famous you can say, Why did I go to the Razz so many times?
Bakalao is the Spanish name for a very fast and slightly silly type of techno rave music. Together, the Spanish musician Diego Garci'a and the Russian 8-bit DJ Dimitry Ghost make up Barcelona Bakalao. Using old analogue synths and Casio keyboards, they improvise over eurodance and acid
house. The result can only be described as dada-rave. It’s bound to be interesting
