Tramar Dillard [born December 16th 1979], better known by his stage name Flo Rida, is an American rapper. As a teenager, he toured with local rap group 2 Live Crew. Later, he appeared in numerous popular rap mixtapes and studio albums, most notably in 'We The Best' in 2006. 'Mail On Sunday' was Flo Rida's solo debut album; its lead single 'Low' [featuring T-Pain] was a No.1 hit for ten weeks in early 2008.
'Right Round' [featuring Kesha], Flo Rida's is the first single, from his new album 'R.O.O.T.S.' [due for release on March 31st 2009]. Flo Rida's A&R at Atlantic Records brought the beat to 'Right Round' to his attention. They went to the studio and Dr. Luke produced the sample, which is based on Dead Or Alive's 1984 hit 'You Spin Me Round [Like A Record]'. He produced the track and Flo Rida recorded his vocal onto it. 'Right Round' debuted at No.74 on the Billboard Hot 100 and jumped from No.58 to No.1 on February 18th 2009, selling 636,000 digital copies in a single week, the biggest first-week sales in digital history, breaking the previous record he set with 467,000 downloads in December 2007. In its second week, the song sold 460,000 downloads, the third highest one-week total ever, topping the one million mark in paid downloads in just two weeks and becoming the fastest million-selling download ever in the US. In Canada it debuted at No.75 on the Canadian Hot 100 and rose to No.47 the next week after being the "Airplay Gainer" and the following week the song jumped to No.1. The song debuted at No.4 on the Irish Singles Chart, purely from downloads alone and the next week rose to No.2. The song reached No.1 in the UK on downloads alone making it his first No.1 single in UK and most successful to date. In Australia, the song debuted at No.1 based on downloads alone. At the time of writing, the song is currently at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and has spent three consecutive weeks there.
The music video was shot in Miami with director Malcolm Jones, and makes a reference to the original Dead Or Alive music video with shots of a revolving disco ball, and a spinning bed. The video is also currently No.4 on MTV2's Music Video Chart.
