Amie Anne Duffy [born on June 23rd 1984 in Gwynedd, Wales], known professionally as Duffy, is a Welsh singer-songwriter of soul music. Mercy is the second single from the album Rockferry by Duffy. Co-written and produced by Steve Booker. It was made available for download from February 11th 2008 and was released physically on February 25th 2008. On February 17th the song entered the UK Singles Chart at No.1 solely on download sales, and has so far peaked at No.1 in the singles charts in ten countries, and peaked in the top 10 in a further twelve countries. The music video for Mercy features Duffy standing on top of a platform performing in a dance-hall. The retro-soul style is given further significance by the appearance of several Northern Soul dancers, who eventually catch fire. Mercy has been nominated for a 2008 MOJO Award in the category of Song of the Year.
