Based on a Romanian folk story this is the modern interpretation of the story,set in modern Bucharest. Three brothers recently moved to the City.
The elder brother and the sister shortly find their place in society but their younger brother seems to find hard to integrate, therefore the other two decide to help. Only that Bizo falls in love with the Gypsy King\'s daughter and decides to ask for her hand. The Father tries to trick him by putting him through three challenges, each one to demonstrate that he has all that it takes to be a proud gypsy: Dexterity, Guts and Money.

Productia este realizata de MediaPro Pictures la studiourile din Buftea.
Scenariul este semnat de Mugur Mihaescu si Radu Pietreanu, fondatorii grupului umoristic român \"Vacanta mare\", care au declarat ca \"Trei frati
de belea nu seamana cu fostele proiecte.
Mugur spune: ”E ceva cu totul nou. Pot spune ca spectatorii aproape ca nu ne vor recunoaste. E un stil diferit,care înseamna în primul rând mult
mai mult umor al situatiilor”.
Filmul a fost filmat în diferite locatii din Bucuresti si din jur, precum:Aeroportul Otopeni, DN1, Stadionul Dinamo, Casa de cultura din Buftea si
satul Buzescu din apropierea oratului Alexandria, vestit pentru palatele rromilor care îl locuiesc.
Regizorul Theodor Halacu a fost si regizor secund la o serie de productii de productii hollywoodiene sau europene printre care: ”An american haunting”,
”BloodRayne”, ”House of 9” si ”Amen”. Deasemenea, el este cel ce semneaza regia la câteva episoade ale serialului \"Baieti buni\", difuzat de Pro Tv.
În distributia filmului în gasim pe Mugur Mihaiescu, Radu Pietreanu si Mirela Stoian, pe Florin Petrescu, Emil Radinoiu, George Robu, Andreea
Doinea etc. În acest film, si-a facut debutul în cinematografie sora Nicoletei Luciu, Iuliana Luciu, în rolul tinerei dupa care i se aprind calcâiele personajului jucat de Mugur Mihaescu. O alta aparitie, desi scurta, este cea a micutei Ivone, fetita lui Mugur Mihaescu, pe care acesta a vrut
sa o aiba aproape pe platoul de filmare, pentru a o obisnui cu aceasta meserie, în caz ca va dori sa o urmeze.
