Der 18-jährige Carl wird im Jahr 1966, nachdem er von der Schule verwiesen wurde, von seiner Mutter auf das Schiff seines Patenonkels Quentin geschickt. Dort soll Carl zur Besinnung kommen, doch Quentins Schiff ist eine Höhle des Lasters: Es heißt Radio Rock und ist ein Piratensender, der rund um die Uhr RocknRoll spielt. Eine bunte Gruppe von DJs haust auf dem Schiff in der Nordsee und probiert aus, wovon die Lieder handeln: Sex, Drogen und Unbeschwertheit.
