Green Day, R.E.M., The Cure, Christina Aguilera, Jack Johnson, Snow Patrol, Corinne Bailey Rae, Ben Harper, Lenny Kravitz ou encore Regina Spektor participent à Make some noise, the Amnesty International campaign to save Darfur, un double album reprenant les chansons de John Lennon.

Cet opus, dont la sortie mondiale est prévue le 25 juin, permettra à Amnesty International de récolter des fonds pour aider les populations du Darfour, une région du Soudan qui connaît depuis plusieurs années une guerre civile sanglante.

Make some noise, the Amnesty International campaign to save Darfur, intitulé Instant Karma en hommage à l'une des chansons les plus célèbres de Lennon en Amérique du Nord et en Grande-Bretagne, compte une vingtaine de titres de Lennon. La veuve du chanteur, Yoko Ono a cédé les droits sur ces chansons pour cette cause humanitaire.

Le premier single de cette compilation, #9 Dream, est interprété par le groupe américain R.E.M. La formation de Michael Stipe a enregistré ce titre en septembre dernier. Le single sera prochainement disponible sur les plateformes de téléchargement.

Au total, 28 groupes et artistes internationaux figurent sur cet opus qui s'inscrit dans "l'opération "Make some noise" initiée par Amnesty International qui, à travers la musique, incite une nouvelle génération à se mobiliser en faveur des droits humains", indique le communiqué de la maison de disque Warner et d'Amnesty International.
