The songs of Cole Porter sung by various artists. Such diverse and talented vocalists as Alanis Morissette, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow participated in this project. Although it's actually selections from the film, this CD would be equally successful if it were a "stand alone" project. Every cut offers a unique and apt interpretation of a clever and well wrought song. Every cut is different and consistently well produced and conceived. Sheryl belts the bridge on the mysterioso beguine, "Begin The Beguine" with authority and sincerity. Costello's nasal twang and self-effacing phrasing are perfect for "Let's Misbehave." He's a master at projecting his unusual voice while planting his tongue in his cheek. Producers Peter Asher and Steve Endelman, who did most of the arranging, have outdone themselves with this collection.
