Torrent description

Neil Young's 1972 release HARVEST is, in most minds. his finest album and remains a benchmark of his 30 year musical career. Neil Young demonstrated his talent for folk rock as he prevailed to create numerous hits with the help of his temporarry backup band the Stray Gators. The albums commeneces with the dulcet tones of "Out on the Weekend," and leads into the dismal title track "Harvest." The following song, "A Man Needs a Maid," was written for his girlfriend at the time Carrie Snodgress. They had a son named Zeke, who was sadly was plagued with cerebral palsy. The pianist on HARVEST briefly dated Carrie Snodgress after Young departed her. In 1979, Jack Nitzsche, the pianist, was palced on probation for beating Carrie Snodgress with a pistol. The next track "Heart of Gold," earned the number one slot in 1972 and continues to be one of his most well-known songs today. It has excellant harmonica work and displayed superb backing vocals by Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor. "Are You Ready for the Country?" has a catchy piano riff and decent vocals and illustrates a story of the ups and downs of the unforgiving backcountry. "There's a World," is one of my least favorite tracks on the album, although it has a good integration with the London Symphony Orchestra, it strongly lacks a solid premis; it is a basically an orchestra pounding away and Young inchoately sing-speaking. "Alabama," is a far departure from the prior track and may very well be a one of favorite Young songs immmediately following Hey, hey My, my (And into the Black). This track has stunning, inspirational vocals and a cool guitar riff. "Needle and the Damage Done," is a decent song, however, the track is extraordinarily overrated. On HARVEST Young performed the this live at UCLA and was written for the near fatal death of Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten, who would unfortunately passed away after Young fired him and sent him 50 bucks for rehabilitation. Danny Whiiten squandered the 50 bucks on heroin in Los Angelas that sunsequently killed himself. The final track "Words (between the Lines of Age)," is an adequate culmination to one of the greatest albums of all time. David Crosby was featured int the backing voals of this memorable song. The lyrics are flawless and the rhythem is solid. This album is a must for any classic rock fan, more particularly any ardent Neil Young fan.
