Dopo i tre anni passati con i DEEP PURPLE e un paio di album solisti, DAVID COVERDALE – cantante rock inglese – forma gli WHITESNAKE con i quali forgerà definitivamente la sua carriera musicale. Dal 1978 al 1984 il gruppo è portatore sano di Hard Rock Blues inglese, forse non molto originale ma di un certo effetto, mentre per gli anni successivi il SERPENTE BIANCO cade nella deriva heavy metal da MTV. Certo, l’album 1987 è carino e porta a David Coverdale quel successo americano inseguito per anni, ma il nuovo corso sfigura – almeno per il sottoscritto – dinnanzi alla ingenua ma pura anima rock dei primi lavori. Poche settimane fa il gruppo ha pubblicato un imbarazzante nuovo album, contenente il “già sentito” del “già sentito”; per lavarci le orecchie quindi possiamo riascoltare TROUBLE, il primo lavoro della band del 1978.
Le canzoni in esso contenute mitigheranno le delusioni e ci faranno riesplodere l’amore che fu per questa buona band inglese.
