Created by Daniel Tonini (B), Wagner Pongeluppi (D), Rodrigo Toledo (G) and Nelson Claro (V) at the end of 1997, Lawmaker was born with the objective of recalling the essence of Heavy Metal , bringing heavy beat and melody side by side in a homogeneous way, without the fads that lately have made Heavy Metal bands more and more similar to each other. In 2000 the band records the demo CD Eyewitness , which obtained a surprising acceptance. The critics labeled it as ‘far above the average'. The band was in focus in Roadie Crew magazine (N.23) specialized section.
However, though the band was bound to a promising future, it would be at a standstill for some years due to internal problems which resulted in Nelson Claro and later Rodrigo Toledo leaving the band in 2000.
During the following inactive period Daniel Tonini registered the material he was given rights after deal with Rodrigo Toledo and, counting on Wagner Pongeluppi, planned the band's return.
In November 2002 the band is back counting on the guitar man Marcelo Trivelli.
Later, U Forces Magazine would also praise the work by including one of the demo songs (I'm on fire) in a compilation CD with bands supported and recommended by some labels, some of them already established, like Racer X of the guitar Paul Gilbert . and Pink Cream 69 of Dennis Ward ( Angra producer ).
Then the magazine called Daniel Tonini to write some columns about bass techniques and Marcelo Trivelli to write guitar licks.
In March 2003 the magazine Union Metal Force interviews Daniel Tonini and Wagner Pongeluppi.
In 2004 Marcelo Trivelli is called to record the guitars in a TV add for Oi cell phones. The commercial was shown in MTV's VMB 2004 and then shown throughout Latin America in free TV and cinema trailers. Later, Trivelli records commercials for Nokia and Rede Globo TV channel.
Marcelo Trivelli then focused his career to a solo work while Mauricio Filho assumed temporarily the guitars.
Meanwhile the band was invited for considerable performances, as playing an article and making a song for ESPN Brazil , which was to be shown in a Brazilian Skate Championship faze. The web site Guitar X called Daniel Tonini to write about techniques and music producing and Wagner Pongeluppi to write about techniques.
In the year of 2005, with Odair Cassani in the vocals and Mauricio Filho in the guitars, the band records the Demo EP “Look at the Sun”, which was once again focused in Roadie Crew Magazine (N.74) and for the first time a demo was played in the most recognized program in the gender, Comando Metal by 89FM radio. Repercussion was positive, the program reached top audience, being transmitted to the whole country and abroad.
After this faze, looking for a more solid and compromised line-up, Marcello Trivelli definitely reassumes the guitars. The new “frontman” is recruited from Chile , the talented Daniel Munoz and the band also joined the keyboards of the maestro Fred Jason. With this new line-up the band reedits “Look at the Sun” and the first result allowed the band to make part of the closing songs of the sports program Rede TV Esporte, by Rede TV channel.
Thus Lawmaker is reborn from ashes with a renewed spirit, formed by highly professional musicians who are committed with this work.
It is worth to mention that this commitment is the band's main feature and contributes for any detail to be considered, from writing scores for the whole work, recorded or not, to the care taken by the group about their behavior before media and public.
About the musicians' experience, Daniel Tonini is also music and phonographic producer affiliated to Associação Brasileira de Música (ABRAMUS – Brazilian Music Association), music teacher, columnist of sites and magazines and graduated lawyer, which is his credential to support the band in registers and contract stuff. Wagner Pongeluppi is graduated by U.L.M. (Universidade Livre de Música) and very praised during workshops and classes. Both are subscripted in Ordem dos Músicos do Brasil (O.M.B.) .Marcelo Trivelli is graduated by I.G.&T, disciple of Mozart Mello.Daniel Muñoz has vast experience in Brazilian underground, having sung a number of different styles and genders. He is also a language teacher. So, the keyboards man, Fred Jason, is graduated in music by Unicamp.
Thus, it is easy to understand why Lawmaker bets harder than ever in a sound which is full of references, but singular as a whole.
