Vinnie put together his own band, Warrior. Robert Fleischmann recalls how he
hooked up with Vinnie: \"Well actually Vinnie tracked me down in \'80 or \'81. He
had just finished touring with Edgar Winter I think, and he just came over to
my house and we started writing songs on this four track recorder at my
house. Vinnie ends up putting a band together with me called Warrior and we
cut some demos, some of which later went on the Invasion album. Anyway,
Vinnie tells me that he going to pitch the demos to some record companies
and that he\'d get back to me if anything became of them\". According to Gary
Shea, \"after New England broke up Hirsh, Jimmy and I went to Los Angeles to
play with Vinnie Vincent in a group called Warrior\". The vocalist for the project
would be former Journey lead-singer Robert Fleischmann with whom Vinnie
would later have additional connections following Vinnie\'s post-KISS career.
\"Hirsh rang him up and invited him to Boston to jam, and the collaboration
(which included Jimmy and Gary) cranked out tunes like, Gypsy, Back On The
Streets, Boys Are Gonna Rock, Love It Loud, and other great Vinnie songs.
The boys moved to LA, put together 8-9 tunes, did a demo for CBS and were
about to get signed when Gene and Paul snagged Vinnie for the KISS gig\".
Hirsh recalls that the Kiss mates rehearsed next door at SIR Studios and
would come round on occasion. They must have liked what they heard. So did
Hirsh and he still has demo tapes of songs that made The Warrior project and
on to the Creatures Of the Night and Lick It Up albums. Not the only demos
around as the post-Kiss Vincent and Hirsh later collaborated daily for over six
months, on what would eventually become the Vinnie Vincent Invasion\" .
Unfortunately, while Robert was interested enough to provide vocals on the
Warrior demos he was more interested in pursing a solo career as his next
move, and even at this early point there seem to have been some \'issues\'
surrounding Vinnie, mostly personality and ego-wise. Adam Mitchell, who was
at the time co-writing with KISS, suggested that Vinnie get in touch with
Gene. Vinnie recalled, \"I met them through a common friend, Adam Mitchell.
He was writing with Gene Simmons and told him he had to hear me play. I met
Gene and we hit it off. At the time I was broke and was sleeping on sofa to
sofa at friend\'s houses. Any money I made I spent it on demos to use as a
calling card. I did a demo for Gene who played it for Paul. They took it to their
producer and the next thing I knew I was in the band\"
Track 04 : \"Back On The Streets\" is also recorded by the band 3 SPEED in
1984 for the \"Voyage Of The Rock Aliens\" soundtrack album.
The same year Frehley\'s Comet demoed \"Back On The Streets\".
Track 06 : \"I Need Love\", apart from being a Warrior demo, this song would
be demoed, along with other Vinnie Vincent material during Vinnie\'s recording
career with KISS. Parts of this song would be recycled into the Vinnie Vincent
Invasion track \"Shoot U Full Of Love\".
Track 08 : \"Baby Oh Why\" would be re-written as \"Baby-O\" for inclusion on
Vinnie Vincent Invasion\'s 1986 album.
