Velvet Revolver is a hard rock supergroup with three former members of Guns N' Roses ? Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum [who also played with rock bands Hawk and The Cult], plus Scott Weiland, the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, and Dave Kushner of the 80's hardcore punk band Wasted Youth.
'Libertad' is the title of Velvet Revolver's second album. The album was released in the US on July 3rd 2007. The name translates to "freedom" in Spanish. 'She Builds Quick Machines' was released as the first single off the album on May 21st 2007. The music video shows the band as a group of modern cowboys standing on what appears to be a desert. Scott Weiland is holding a telescope in which they see a female angel falling from the sky, she is kidnapped by the people of a village, who seem hostile. The band arrives at the village and have a big fight that involves explosions, molotov cocktails and gun shooting. The band finds the angel and releases her.
Entertainment Weekly Review: "Libertad, Velvet Revolver's second CD is so chock-full of the tight 'n' crunchy pedigreed hard rock that's in short supply these days, it feels both comfortingly familiar and vaguely exotic ... Our advice? Stop pining for a new Guns N' Roses release, break out your air guitars, and bask in the glory of Libertad."
