Prof. sez:

I circulated the first rip I did of this LP two years ago in 16/44.1 only.
But I have come a long way with my hobby since then and this new rip finally does
this beautiful pressing (in near mint condition) justice.
The old rip may sound good in its own right, but if you compare it with this there will be no contest.
This one has a more natural sounding high-end (because of a much better cartridge/stylus)
in a near tape-like quality.

The Band of Gypsys album has had many LP and CD releases.
However, when it comes to the best soundquality there are only two issue's that really matter:
the 1st US pressing on Capitol in 1970 with the RL (stands for Robert Ludwig) initials in the
dead wax and the 1997 vinyl re-issue as cut by Eddie Kramer and George Marino from the
original analogue 2-track mix down tapes which is used for this release.
These two make all the CD's & all other Lp's presses sound like dogshit (IMO, and I heard them all).
The RL Capitol pressing and the EK/GM reissue do not exactly sound alike:
the RL has a more smoother sounding mid-range but at the same time
it does not have same clarity and realism of the EK/GM. It's THAT good.
I just wished EH could have given all the other Hendrix albums the same treatment.

The record was professionally and carefully cleaned in three steps using Audio Intelligent’s
Enzymantic formula, Super Cleaner Formula, and Ultra pure water on a VPI 16.5
(using VPI brushes) and Nitty Gritty mini-pro 2.
I spent a lot of time manually declicking the wave file (after Click Repair had already been
applied with a very light setting) to make sure the cleanest and most natural sounding result
possible was achieved.

Enjoy!
