Based on the book of the same name by Stephen Ambrose, this ten-part series covers the actions of Easy Company as they fight on the European front of World War II. Over the course of ten hours; life-long bonds are formed, battles are fought, lessons are learned, and the last great war is shown as gritty and realistically as it ever has been. Not since Saving Private Ryan has there been a WWII film this intense, only this isn't a movie.

The series tracks the Company from the boot camp at Currahee, through the major battles of WWII, up to their capture of Hitler's "Eagles Nest". Everything in the mini-series is very accurate when compared to the book, as it should be. These were real soldiers and this is the true story of Easy Company. Even little details from the book, such as the story of a pasta feast at Currahee before a big run, made it into the mini-series.

Although the show goes into the major battles and events of the European Campaign, each battle is shown in a slightly different way than before. For example, the second episode is all about D-Day, but we don't see it from the now familiar "storming of the beach" perspective. Instead, we're taken into France in the wee hours of the morning with the airborne paratroopers who jump in behind enemy lines and end up losing most of their weapons and supplies in the process.
