King Crimson are an influential English musical group founded by guitarist Robert Fripp and drummer Michael Giles in 1969. Their dense musical style has typically been categorised as progressive rock, although it also has influences from jazz, classical, new wave, heavy metal and folk. Although King Crimson has garnered little radio or music video airplay, they have a devoted following.

The Compact King Crimson, as released on CD, is basically most of their first album (from 1969), most of their album Discipline from 1981, and snippets of their albums Beat and Three of A Perfect Pair.
