Power metal with tremendous distortion clarity, and a fair amount of energetic double-bass. The music is strong and solid, and reminds of Iron Savior, Eidolon, some Running Wild, and bits of old Maiden--though the chordwork is actually much thicker than the Irons. Vocally it's reminiscent of bands such as Iron Savior and Ten, in that the singing is strong, deep, and stable--almost majestic in its delivery. Overall this is a splendid metal release, and a powerful and refreshing new face on the scene.
The tight chords and gallop of "Upon the Grave of Guilt" greets the listener first, and is followed up by the roll and mesmerizing vocals of "Heresy in Disguise". "A Quest For the Crown" is bobbing, cutting, and nasty, and even more tight-packed chords are held within "Mindtraveller".
Rip and gallop is the status quo for movers such as "Royal Galley" and "Lord of the Blacksmiths," while "Wings of Serenity," "Entering Eternity," and "Substitutional World" all leave their metallic marks.
This is a disc that is sure to make some waves on the scene, as this European brand of music always seems to cut straight to the chase.
