Jim Ladd : We're listening to a live satellite broadcast from K.A.O.S on the road and we've got Billy on the line.
Billy : I'm from the valley's.
Jim Ladd : You're from the valley?
Billy : No Jim you schmuck, the valleys.
Jim Ladd : Aahh, the valleys.
Billy : Wales, Male Voice Choirs.
Jim Ladd : Ohh, I get it, Wales, England, now is this sperm or blue tip?
Billy : Ha Ha Ha , very funny Jim.
Jim Ladd : Sorry but obviously, when you put together batteries were not included, is that why your voice sounds like that?
Billy : I'll show you Jim.
Radio K.A.O.S tour was launched while Pink Floyd started A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - Worldwide Tour. Therefore, Waters was sometimes crossing path with Pink Floyd and medias could just notice the audience took their pick. Indeed, Waters was playing in front of 7500-15000 persons each night while his colleagues filled huge stadiums of sometimes 80 000 persons. However, it was clear that Roger didn’t want to perform in football stadiums anymore (more recently, In The Flesh - American Tour proved it once again).
Radio K.A.O.S Tour was unique. In each performance, Waters developed a magical connection between the performers and the audience. Surrounded by a bunch of musicians called "The Bleeding Heart Band" (his band changed a bit since The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking Tour), Waters essentially toured in USA and Canada. A few live performances throughout the world (more precisely in Australia and Japan) were foreseen but had to be cancelled in spite of weak sales.
Sponsored by Canadian Moosehead breweries, it wasn’t a production as ambitious as The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking Tour. However, Fisher and Park worked on the scenery once again, and the main feature was the return of the circular light screen used in 70’s Floyd show, on which films and videos could be projected on. Also, there was a small digital board where Billy speech could be read by the audience. Finally, another interesting point : a phone booth, with steps, allowed Waters to answer questions from the audience. The 'phone-calls' were divided in two parts. The first part was a brief discussion (generally dealing with Roger Waters) between Jim Ladd and the audience, and the second one featured 5 phone calls between Roger Waters and the audience. So, each night brought some new twists.
