Lindisfarne had a string of hits in 70s including perennial Gold fave, 'Meet Me On The Corner'. Rod Clements wrote that. He penned a lot of the band's material and now they no longer meet on the corner, he is emerging as a fine solo artist. This album rocks - yes, the spirit of Lindisfarne is present and correct inevitably but this is no 'tribute' to former glories nor nostalgic cash-in. There's heavier more brooding material to enjoy, and when that cuts in this band cooks. A wry, dry humour pervades tales of bitter experience, past longings, the occasional rant and roll, counterpointed by quirky obversational ditties of gentle beauty. Thea Gilmore guests as she did on his debut 'Stamping Ground' - another good album. This is all fresh and original material and occasionally it's hard to believe this man has not emerged from a more recent musical wellspring. Uncle Rod is not going quietly ...
