Play It Again wasn't your typical culture clash reality show. Instead, this BBC series follows six public figures, capturing their trials and tribulations while pursuing their dreams of becoming musicians. Fly on the wall stuff, letting you see how they fare as they dedicate themselves to a rigorous musical regime of lessons, practising and public performances. All this hard work is geared towards one virtuoso solo performance. But it was more than just a television program, Play It Again also encouraged viewers to start playing or singing by offering a series of free workshops around the country. Those events, directed by British composer Tim Steiner, were open to all, giving participants the chance to perform with one of the BBC orchestras and BBC Singers. And there was a book published to go along with the TV series, too.
