PLOT SUMMARY:
Graverobbers open the grave of the Wolfman and awake him. He doesn't like the idea of being immortal and killing people when the moon is full, so he tries to find Dr. Frankenstein, in the hopes that the Dr. can cure him, but Frankenstein is dead and only his Monster is alive and this one wants to live, not to die like the Wolfman...

TRAMA:
Due incauti predoni di tombe risvegliano l'uomo lupo dal suo sonno, questo, dopo avere sbranato uno mentre l'altro fuggiva, si risveglia privo di memoria in ospedale. Naturalmente il richiamo della luna si far? presto sentire e l'uomo lupo uscir? dalla finestra della sua camera per vagare nella citt?. Uccider? un poliziotto che l'aveva notato e, tornato in ospedale, confesser? l'omicidio e di essere un licantropo, ma la polizia non gli creder? e il dottore lo definir? un licantropo nel senso che ? un uomo che crede di diventare lupo. Ma Talbot, creduto morto da pi? di 4 anni, non si limita a credere di essere un lupo. La realt? verr? presto rivelata a tutti e Talbot sar? costretto a fuggire dalla solita folla inferocita. Fuggendo si imbatter? nel mostro di Frankenstein, dato anch'esso per morto, e lo liberer? dalla sua bara di ghiaccio. I due mostri inizialmente collaborano, ma presto scoppia un feroce scontro....

COMMENTS:
What impresses the most from this movie is makeup artist, Jack Pierce. Unlike the original, Lon Chaney Jr. transforms into the Wolf Man on camera, twice. This is during a time when makeup was applied a little at a time and filmed at each step along the way. Usually, there are subtle changes in the background, but not this time. When Chaney Jr. changes in the hospital bed, not one fluff or dimple on the pillow is different from the beginning to the end of the transformation. Same goes for the transformation by the tree in the woods. What patience! This film also let's us know how quickly and quiet group of mourning villagers can become a dangerous mob. My reference is to the scene where the dead girl is being carried the streets. All of a sudden, when the wolf howls, they become an angry mob. Where did all those pitch forks and sticks and guns come from anyway? Maybe there were three monsters in the movie? This movie also features a timeless beginning that is still, in my opinion, one of the scariest opening sequences ever filmed. Although blood is a rarity in the movie, the acting of the supporting cast sells the horror.

In questo film due grandi monsters si incontrano, l'uomo lupo e il mostro di frankenstein (da notare come ci sia un errore, qui si chiama frankenstein il mostro del dottore)
Per la prima volta Bela Lugosi, dopo aver interpretato Igor in pi? film, decise di accettare di recitare come il mostro di frankenstein, ruolo che aveva rifiutato di interpretare anni prima lasciando il posto a Boris Karloff, e sicuramente veste meglio i suoi panni di Lon Chaney Jr.
