Anita Baker - The Songstress
Audio CD (November 12, 1991)
Original Release Date: June 1983
Label: Atlantic / Wea
Bitrate: 320 kbps

Excellent fourplay music....
This is a very special album to me for many reasons! First of all, during the debut of this album, I became familiar with Anita\'s pure singing talent and range. But as time went on, I realized that the lyrics to the songs added this deeply sensuous and mello vibe to any intimate moment my lady of the moment. In fact, when I listen to these tracks, I am reminded of a special lady from my past; Uhm, uhm, umh...what a quite storm that we shared together. Many of our evenings involved, champaign, hot food, candlelight, warm bath water, and Anita Bakers sweet love songs like: \"Angel\". ~ UserMAS1

The greatest female vocalist of all times and also the cause of Toni Braxton\'s success!!!!! ~ jazz_rich2003

Its Amazing to me that someone can review an older release and say it sounds dated, or has post-disco cliches, etc.Um, yah, it is over 20 years old. I love Chaka Khan too but I dont complain that Feel 4 U sounds dated.

In Los Angeles, Angel was played constantly at kute.fm Which is why i bought the album. But what is really amazing about this album, in relationship to Ms. Baker\'s later material, is that to me, it sounds like she opened up vocally on it. Yes, there are some unusual-for-her faster tunes and thank goodness. Her voice is literally all over the charts, and not a bum note anywhere. I love her material, but there is certainly a \"sameness\" quality to her later releases, and this under-rated album added a variety of flavors.

It was a great day for us music collectors who found this one on cd finally and i enjoy it still today, over 20 years later.~ HughGoBoy

I will listen to anything this woman sings. She could belt out Mary Had a little lamb, and I\'d probably buy it? Anita fuses jazz and soul perfectly. This is her first cd and for some reason I don\'t even remember hearing her songs on the radio then? After Rapture came out, then we started hearing it and it being requested, and I ran out and bought the album. I thought it was new, but it was OLD??? But I still knew who Anita was when I first heard Sweet Love. These songs are priceless, get it, not everything is on the Greatest Hits cd. ~ A Rogue \"cherro32\"
