It has been nearly a decade since THE GENERATORS crashed themselves onto the Underground Los Angeles music scene. What started out to be just a side project turned into a full time band that has 6 full-length releases under their belt, along with numerous tours of Europe, and The United States. Vocalist Doug Kane, and drummer Dirty Ernie Berru were better known for their 10 years spent with the Warner Brothers recording act SCHLEPROCK. During the 1990s Schleprock sold over 100,000 records, and were asked to support bands like Bad Religion, Green Day, Rancid, and The Specials. After 10 years of constant touring and an internal meltdown SCHLEPROCK disbanded. It did not take long for Berru, and Kane to go back in the garage and kick out another rhythmic monster; this time named THE GENERATORS.

By the late nineties the fourth wave of Punk had evolved, the sound and attitude had reversed it back to its early street roots. With this raw approach it got tagged as “Street Punk”.THE GENERATORS became a leading force in this new movement in Southern California, and have been credited to kick starting this new Punk resurgence in Los Angeles. THE GENERATORS was not only turning heads with their “In Your face” punk rhythms, but also attracting others with their high powered Rock N Roll approach.
THE GENERATORS started attracting a large teenage following because of their musical aggression, but somehow Beer Company executives and professional Basketball teams were taking notice as well. The Los Angeles Lakers, and The Corona Beer Company both decided to use the bands hometown anthem “City Of Angels” for their television, and radio commercial advertisements. This in turn started to get THE GENERATORS real recognition across the board as now their music was going out to the masses.

Since 1999 THE GENERATORS have been criss crossing across the highways, and skyways of Europe, and The United States. This five-piece band from L.A. has achieved to chart American College radio, and secured endorsements from clothing companies like Lucky 13, Felon, Dickies, and T.U.K Shoes. They have been invited to play on some of the largest Punk/ Metal Festivals around the globe, and continue to bring new fans aboard everyday. Mark Brennan owner of the worlds largest Punk Rock Re-issue record label Captain Oi Records was quoted as saying “The Generators are the punk rock band for the new millenium”. Roger Moser with Under The Volcano Magazine says “The Generators always give you their classic signature melodic Punk Sound with a blistering swagger of Rock N Roll, as if Bad Religion and Social Distortion were split at birth”.

Vocalist Doug Kane says, ”We are a band that crosses the great divide with our music. We attract every life form to our shows Punkers, Rockers, Greasers, Skaters, it doesn’t matter what they are into, they are showing up and getting the message loud and clear!”

For the spring, and summer of 2006 THE GENERATORS will be re-releasing "Winter Of Discontent"with Ohio’s Sailors Grave Records. THE GENERATORS will return to barn storm across Europe for another sold out tour, and will return to the East Coast United States by the summer of 2006.
Almost 10 years since THE GENERATORS conception and it seems they are still slugging it out with no let up in sight. If all remains the same it could be that they become one of the most relevant Punk-Rock N Roll bands to jump out of southern California in years.
