Nine-year-old Carlos aka Carlitos is one of the countless children left behind by parents who come to the U.S. seeking a way to provide for their families. His mother, Rosario, has worked illegally as a domestic in Los Angeles for four years, sending money home to her son and mother to give them a chance at a better life. When the death of his grandmother leaves young Carlitos alone, he takes his fate into his own hands and heads north across the border to find his mother. As he journeys from his rural Mexican village to the L.A. barrio, Carlitos faces seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a steely determination and unfettered optimism that earn him the grudging respect and affection of a reluctant protector, a middle-aged migrant worker named Enrique. The unlikely pair finds its way from Tucson to East L.A., but the only clue Carlitos has to his mother???ó??∩????∩??s whereabouts is her description of the street corner from which she has called him each Sunday for the last four years. Unaware that Rosario is only hours away from returning to Mexico to be with her son, Carlitos and Enrique desperately comb the vast unfamiliar city for a place he has seen only in his imagination.

sus padres en busqueda de una mejor vida en los Estados Unidos. Su madre Rosario, ha trabjado en limpieza domesticapor 4 a????os en Los Angeles, CA. mandando dinero mensualmente para tratar de dar una mejora su hijo y su madre. Tras la muerte de su abuela, Carlitos decide cruzar la frontera en busca de su madre. En el transcurso de su viaje, obstaculos, peligro, hambre, sed, y temor de ser capturado y deportado solo es el principio del camino.Pero con gran determinacion y optimismo sigue adelante y a su vez, logra el respeto y cari????ode Enrique, un immigrante qien termina acompa????ando a Carlitos en su aventura. La pareja dispareja logra viajar desde Tucson, ARIZ hasta el Este de Los Angeles donde la unica pista del paradero de su madre es una esquina en la cual Rosario llamaba cada Domingo por 4 a????os. Rosario esta a pocas horas de regresara Mexico para estar a lado de su hijo, mientras Carlitos y Enrique recorren la imensa ciudad desconosida a la cual solo han visto en su imaginacion.

Crossing the border illegaly into the U.S. is estremely dangerous. One faces constant hunger, thirst, depression, anxiety, fear. Some are tricked by human smugglers and left for dead in the desert or drowned in rivers. Some are executed, women are raped, children molested, and still most immigrants biggest fear is being captured by the Border Patrol. Due to the extreme poverty that plagues most countries of central and South America, for their own survival these people submit themselves to these dangers because they know that once reaching America their life could become better. They come to work and do the jobs an American is too proud to do. They boost the economy bringing with them a culture rich in art and music. Maybe one cant see the whole reality but put yourself in their shoes.
Lets try to be more human about this subject becasuse when we die it would be ironic if God closed the gates of heaven for not having a Green Card. My parents are both illegal immigrants of who I thank eternally for all their sacrifice. By working under the sun and with the sweat from their forehead they taught me to be good person.
